Typical Process

Below is a typical example showing how the process works when ordering an oak staircase.

Initially the customer faxed us a drawing of his staircase and requested a quotation. We do have a downloadable quotation form here.

We contacted him to ensure we had a rough understanding of what his requirements were. He was not 100% certain so we offered a preliminary quotation basing the design on the example in our showroom.

The customer is pleased with this first quote but calls to discuss various options he wishes to add.
He asks for stop chamfered newels and spindles, double curvetail tread, double voluted handrail, full tread protection and pre-assembled balustrade.

We re-quoted the customer based on this information and the customer accepted. We arranged for a surveyor to visit who took all nessecary measurments which would be required to manufacture the stairs.

From this, a computerised drawing was generated and forwarded to the customer for approval.

When the drawing was created, the surveyor discovered there wasn’t enough headroom over the stairs, which meant it would not have met building regulations. However, the surveyor discussed this with the customer and advised a solution which the customer accepted. A new drawing was created.

He returned the signed drawings which he had approved, which were then passed to Jeld Wen for manufacture.

The staircase was manufactured and delivered to site within 6 weeks.

Total price for all of the above was just £2592 Inc. VAT and delivery.
